"What is shadow?" you might be asking and "Why should I aspire to live beyond it?" These are valid questions so let me break it down before I launch into the subject.<br /><br /><em>What is Shadow?</em><br /><br />The natural world that we experience with our five senses from day to day is shadow. It is an imperfect manifestation of the supernatural world that we experience with our spirits. Like all shadows the natural world is imperfect and temporal. It will pass away when Jesus who is the light returns just as all shadows vanish at midday when the earth is saturated with light.<br /><br /><em>What it Means to Live Beyond Shadow</em><br /><br />To live beyond shadow is to live with an awareness of the implications of our earthly conduct in the eternal sphere and to adjust our priorities accordingly.<br /><br /><em>Why Should You Aspire to Live Beyond Shadow?</em><br /><br />The shadow is temporal and is passing away whether we believe it or not but the eternal realm which is substance is just that - eternal. Jesus told the story of a rich farmer who lived his life with an awareness only of the shadow. As a result he spent it acquiring temporal riches without giving a thought to the acquisition of eternal riches. When he died he had to leave what he had stored up in his barns to those still living in the shadow and move on to eternity with nothing.
